Wednesday night Noah made his first
appearance in the ER. Let me explain, so Wednesday morning we all woke up and
BJ was not feeling well. I felt bad, but he never gets sick so I just thought maybe he was hungry. Well he tried to eat and couldn't and threw up running to the kitchen. Then I was feeding Noah and all of a sudden he started to throw up too. Oh my goodness! This was the worst sight in the world. I was so upset. I felt like I did something wrong as a parent. I felt like this was my fault this had happened. Well, the day went on and Noah would not eat or drink ANYTHING!
BJ was so sick he couldn't help me take care of Noah. So, I told myself to suck it up and "be a mom". Well night came and Noah looked just so sick, he hadn't drank anything really all day and he had the worse
diarrhea. His
fontanel was sunk in, he was pale, and he was so warn out. I called my doctor and she told me to head to the ER. "The ER?" I thought. "Really?" I was so upset. I asked
BJ if he felt well enough to go with me, but he didn't! So, once again I had to suck it up and go alone! The tears came running down my face on the way to the hospital. I couldn't believe my baby was so sick he needed to go to the hospital and my husband was so sick he couldn't be there with me. So, I arrived at the hospital with Noah in my arms. I had to fill out paper work as tears were running down my face. But then I remembered I have a friend
whose husband is an ER doctor at my hospital, so I called her! Her husband was not working but he did call the charge nurse and the
pediatrician that was working in the ER and told them to take good care of me. That was for sure a god sent blessing. But even more of a blessing is my good friend Tara. I called her and did not even ask her to come to the hospital because she has her own son to take care of, but without even having a 2
ND thought she got into her car and came to be with me at the hospital. She stayed with Noah and I the whole time we were there! WOW! What a friend! I felt so special to know she cared that much about me and Noah that she came to be with us. She even brought Noah some toys to play with and me my favorite candy bar. I am so lucky to have her in my life! Talk about irrational devotion, a true friendship. Anyway...So Noah had to have 2
IVs for his dehydration because of his diarrhea, whatever came in twice as much was going out the other end. It was so sad seeing him get poked and pricked for blood and then when they stuck in the IV I just
squeezed Tara's hand and tried to hold back the tears. We ended up being at the hospital for 6 hours!!!! Noah slept most the time with the IV in him laying on me. The doctor told me he was on the boarder to get admitted and it was really my choice. If I felt like I could take care of him at home I could take him home but if I wanted him to be
monitored over night I could have chosen for him to stay. But I wanted to get Noah home and in his own bed. Hospitals are full of germs and I did not want to have to spend the night in it. Well Thursday was a very tough day, Noah was very
lethargic.
BJ was still very sick. So, it was all me. I would try and force feed Noah some liquids so he would not be dehydrated. He had major
diarrhea still. I had to change his diaper like 2 times every hour! It was a LONG day! Today, Friday, came and we went to my
pediatrician and he said he is looking better and just to keep doing what I am doing. The main thing is we don't want him to get dehydrated again so I have to keep pushing the fluids. Oh and
BJ he is still sick. He is suffering through work, but it sucks for him too! SO both my boys have been so sick, I am just praying I DO NOT get it!
